Poi is a performance art.To get this cool affect with lights and a camera, you have to experiment with the different shutter speeds. By slowing down the camera shutter speed,it takes longer for the picture to be taken, allowing the light to all be captured on camera.

How could photography/technology like this change things in society?

Photography/technology like this changes things in society because it allows people to see the world in a different perspective. Also it is very important to be able to stop a moment in time so that you can look at it over again. Like a really good memory. Photography can also be a way of proving something, like who murdered who in a investigation.
